To be eligible, runners must finish four rail trail 100s. A rail trail 100
is a race in which at least 60 miles of the course are conducted on a rail trail.
As of September 2010, there are five known Rail Trail 100s – Iron Horse (FL),
New Jersey, Jerseyville, Viaduct Trail, and Lean Horse. This is an informal series
(i.e. no application, no award) which was thought up by Mike Samuelson on 2/7/10.
Runners interested in rail trails – such as the 225 mile Katy Trail in Missouri –
can obtain additional information from the rails-to-trails conservancy at
www.RailsToTrails.org.
