I have no idea what was the total weight. Here's what I carried from the start. I hope I didn't forget anything. It was my strategy to carry some extra clothing that I did not expect to need, but which would make up the "Minimum Survivable Complement" should things go really wrong. wearing: Coolmax Tee RaceReady shorts (with pockets) BB cap MiniGaiters Montrail Vitesse socks underwear Lowe Dash pack modified to add mesh side pockets Patagonia rain jacket with hood LS Coolmax shirt lightweight fleece shirt from Melanzana (did not use) warm hat (did not use) thin lycra tights (did not use) wind shell pants that go on/off over shoes spare socks (thinner than the ones I was wearing at start, used these!) Safe Water Anywhere filtering water bottle with UD hand strap spare quart water bottle (Aquafina?) that I didn't need elasticon tape (we used 1 entire roll, 2") exacto knife tincture of benzoin (makes the tape stick like crazy!) SportSlick paper, pen, orange flagging tape LightWave flashlight with lithium batteries Photon II light emergency space blanket JMT map pack sunscreen bug dope TP (not nearly enough!) lucky pig Ibuprofen (lots!) Guarana (stimulant) vitamins 1/2 RidgeRest sleeping pad (dropped this after 2 days) Food: What I carried was calculated to add up to 4000 calories/day, I ate most of that plus some food in camp (beef stew, potatoes, eggs, OJ) 5 PowerBar Harvest bars per day (apple and cherry flavors only) raisins and dried peaches instant oatmeal instant mashed potatoes salt (50:50 mix with Morton Lite) Archway oatmeal raisin cookies (6 per day, yum!) buffalo chips (Kurt Blumberg's secret recipe of ground buffalo, potatoes, etc, dehydrated so they are crunchy) bread (mostly I didn't eat the bread) Almond butter (1/4 lb per day) beef jerky (some days)
